Focusing on local aspects would flourish Ladakh economy which was once a centre of transit route (Silk route) of international trade through Central Asia including Russia and China. The department in future will include the economy of Ladakh as a part of curriculum concentrating on agriculture and allied activities, tourism and international trade.
