Career Counseling Cell, GDC Kargil in collaboration with Department of Commerce celebrates “World Youth Skills Day” on 15th July 2022 with the theme “Transforming youth skills for the future”. The event was attended by officiating principal Salim Ahmad, faculty members of commerce department, members of Career Counseling cell, passed-out and enrolled students of the college. This day is marked all across the globe to raise social awareness of young people’s skills to succeed. It aims to provide information on career opportunities and discuss how to prepare for a competitive job market.
At the outset, the attendees were briefed by Tsetan Dolkar, Assistant Professor Geography, member, Career Counseling Cell regarding the importance of the day in present context. Officiating Principal, Salim ahmad spoke about the need of skill acquisition in present competitive scenario and increasing challenges of unemployment. The students were apprised about various skills that they could possibly look forward to acquire and develop.
Towards the end, Stanzin Norphail, Assistant Professor, Commerce briefed others about the successful conduct of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) Youth Employment Programme (YEP) followed by distribution of certificates among 45 college pass-out candidates. It was organized by Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) Mumbai in collaboration with Govt. Degree College Kargil under their CSR umbrella for building employability skills. In total around 137 candidates registered and only 45 were declared successful. Some candidates also shared personal experience and spoke well about the course.
Lastly, the Career Counseling Cell and Dept. of Commerce on behalf of Govt. Degree College Kargil congratulated all the awardees and wish them good luck for their future.
