Govt. Degree College is one of the prestigious and leading institutes of Higher Education in Ladakh. It is a higher seat of learning and a milestone of academic excellence and extracurricular activities that has enlarged and enriched Kargils’ Educational Map, imparting quality education the downtrodden. Since its inception, the college has worked meticulously towards the overall development of the institution.

I strongly believe that education is a blend of academic excellence and creativity and our sole mission is to encourage and empower students to grow as strong, reflective, and skilled individuals

so they can meet every challenge in all spheres of life. Our pedagogy mainly focuses on the holistic development of our students to seek various opportunities in the pursuit of chasing their dreams. Our aim is to focus on disseminating value-based education that is a prerequisite in today’s fast growing academic atmosphere. Pertinent to mention a few of such milestones, the college successfully introduced and implemented the maximum number of skill courses, during the current session, namely Hand Embroiderer, Housekeeping, Graphic Designer, Yoga, and Beauty Therapist. The courses allow students to improve attributes and qualities vital in seeking job opportunities and effective workplace performance. Also, the college successfully organized the mega Education Fair II in August 2023, which conveys the consistent effort of the institution to provide distinct platforms to students throughout the region for job prospects and career guidance. I feel proud that the college continues to provide self-help employment opportunities for the downtrodden. For consecutive two years we have signed MOU with Usha Silai School and the trainees have successfully established more than 25 silia schools across the district. To achieve such heights, due appreciation goes to the hardworking teaching and non-teaching fraternity of the college who leave no stone unturned for the better performance of the students in particular and the college in general.
